What's in my head today!
Getting ready to be a real-time scopist this next two weeks
by Johnna Barron on 03/14/10
I'm getting ready to help out two top-notch federal reporters in two separate dailies. First I'll be helping do a daily in the Chinese drywall class action; and I'll also be helping with the FEMA trailer class action. Both of my reporters are on Eclipse and are excellent writers, so that part of my job will be a breeze. We are planning on using the division interval in Eclipse, Total Recorder to do audio division intervals so that I can get the audio real-time, and I'll also be using Go to My PC so I can lift the files off of the reporter's computer while she's writing. I'll be here in my jammies working at home, perhaps a frozen daiquiri on standby from the drive-by daiquiri shop in case I get overly stressed (don't tell my reporters I said that). I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
Here I am at 1:21 a.m. writing on my blog and thinking stuff:
by Johnna Barron on 02/27/10So often folks call and ask for my help in solving a problem. That's fine. I don't mind helping anybody out. The problem is that I get hundreds of phone calls and e-mails a day asking for Eclipse shortcuts. Many times I will want to help an individual, but since I cannot see their screen, I will ask that they just go to GOTOMYPC.com and sign up for a free 30-day account so that I can help them the next 30 days with their problems and I may also see it. Do you know that I cannot get anybody to do that. No matter how hard I try, no matter how much I emphasize that it's important I see the screen, nobody will let me help them. All I can say about court reporting is "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
Well, home again at last.

Well, we've just had the Saints win the Super Bowl, we just had Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day, and Mardi Gras. Today is Ash Wednesday if you are a Catholic. Looks like next stop is Easter. So many holidays at one time. Geez. I'm back from the Eclipse training I did at the Tennessee Court Reporters Association in Goodlettesville, Tennessee. I put a total of 1,116 miles on my Honda Accord this weekend, but the end result was I met a lovely group of court reporters. In fact, some of the reporters were gals I had met at earlier trainings and it was really good to see them again. Now I'm thinking of my next training stop. Hmm. Where should we plan the next one.
Well, now back to the real world!
by Johnna Barron on 02/10/10I'm just hanging out getting ready for my training seminar in Tennessee and deciding on what cool things about Eclipse I need to cover. I'm also thinking about doing a technology seminar in June for the court reporters of Louisiana and surrounding areas, something that has a speaker on ethics and I can invite the whole state. That might be pretty cool. Any input from fellow court reporters? A non-Eclipse seminar for people who just want to know what's out there.
What a wonderful day today - Geaux Saints!
by Johnna Barron on 02/08/10Can you believe it? I'm still pinching myself. The boys finally did it and brought home the Vince Lombardi. So now we have Lombardi Gras to celebrate. I'm so excited. Too much so to get much work done today. But I'm working on my website and trying to make it better. Any input would be much appreciated so bring it on!
Who Dat say they gonna beat them Saints!
by Johnna Barron on 02/06/10I just wanted to say how proud I am of the Saints and that I wish that I could be down there at the game there in Miami NOT! I'd much rather enjoy it at home on my couch away from the crowds with the Drive-through daquiri place just down the street! I'm excited for our team. I know they worked hard and I wish them much luck in the Superbowl. Come on, now, folks, Peyton already has a Super Bowl ring. How many does one guy need? Let's not be greedy. Geaux Saints
